Riding Day 18. Nida to Zelenogradsk

Friday Aug 5.  Nida to Zelenogradsk.  60km.  Kaliningrad to hotel 10km.  Total 1180km.
Headed off to the Russian border.  First the exit from Lithuania, then the entry to Russia, then the customs.  All takes time!  Not allowed to take any photos though.  And then just down the road, a national park entry collection point.

Unfortunately more cloud bursts today so got thoroughly drenched again.  We did find a spot for some really nice pancakes and coffee though.  Hiding under trees during another downpour found that the mosquitoes were ferocious.
Found our way to the train station in Zelenogradsk and a train was leaving for Kaliningrad straight away, so a mad rush to get the bikes on board.

Once in Kaliningrad, we had to sort out a place to stay.  Went to McDonalds to get guaranteed wifi, but couldn’t get on without a Russian sim card!  Our Vespa mates had mentioned a hotel where you could camp, so eventually we headed for there.
That was a real 10km adventure in more rain, with dead end paths, potholes, and traffic.

The hotel wasn't too bad. Fortunately took a room as it poured with rain during the evening.  Big hotel, but didn't appear to be too many others in there.  Met up with our vespa riding mates again.
