Malacky to Bratislava

Friday August 26.  47km. Total 2179km
Malacky to Bratislava.

So far I haven't been impressed by Slovakia.  We left Malacky on a road full of potholes.  Eventually got the the trail along the Morava River.  Still not very smooth though as lots of cracks in the surface where roots are rising up.

The Morava then joined the Danube.

There was a memorial to resistance fighters that died during communist times.

There's a very ancient castle high up on a cliff at the junction.  Devlin Castle.

We sat and had a coffee and watched this huge vessel trying to travel upsteam against the current.  It was so long I needed to take 2 photos to get the whole thing.

Bratislava is a very small city with lots of old falling down buildings and graffiti about. The view from the Bratislava castle shows a huge area of high rise housing.

Tried a few nice slovakian wines during the evening, including a white cabernet sauvignon.
