Laulasmaa to Kullamaa
Thursday July 28.
75km. Total distance 772km
Spent the morning on the internet, trying to find the next
place we may be able to head to. We were
back on the busy road first thing, but once we got off the road to Paldiski it
was lovely and quiet.
Rode past a
memorial to Finns who starved to death trying to get from Germany to Finnland
during WW1. Eventually got to Padise. It
was starting to rain, so we sat it out in a bus shelter while we had some
lunch. Still unsure which way we wanted to head. There was some possible accommodation to the
west (nothing definite that we could find), but we really wanted to head
south. Once the rain eased, we headed to
a shop looking for a coffee. Outside the
shop was a 24yo girl riding on her own, and heading to a campsite south. We
asked if we could join her. Liise turned out to be our saviour. She was a
librarian in Tallinn who had taken a 4-day long weekend to head out for a bike
tour. She left Tallinn after work on
Wednesday evening at about 8pm and didn’t get to her first night’s camp until
11pm! So we rode together along a busy
road, with rain showers on and off, to a lovely campsite in a tiny little place
called Kullamaa.
Very limited facilities
there, but a cabin with a hot shower and somewhere to cook. Arrived at the same time as a polish couple,
so only the 5 of us there for the night.
