Monday Aug 8. Gdansk
to Berlin. Ride to campsite 17km. Total
1215km
Up at 5am from our airBnB to get a 6am train out of Gdansk
to Szczecin, then switched to a German train to Angermunde then on to Berlin.
We met some Germans on the train who suggested we get out at Pottsdam Platz
rather than the main railway station to avoid the crowds.
Dermot spoke to a local tourist tricycle driver who gave us
directions to a campsite. Rode across to Alexander Platz, so from west to
east. I had vague memories from my last
visit in 1987.
Successfully negotiated the S-Bahn to get to
Kopernick then had a 17km ride to the campsite.
Garmin always seems to send us on very circuitous routes!Beautiful campsite, although strange. We think it was a youth camp during the East German times. There are about 20 toilets and each one has it's own key!
The lake beside the camp is beautiful. You can go all the way to Berlin via the water.
A German guy and his daughter were camping besite us - Dirk and Eva. They had this told up canoe.
