A day in Berlin

Wednesday August 10. A day in Berlin
Our German camp mates Dirk and Eva offered to take us into town, but we decided to take the bikes. Once we found Kopernick station we knew the way via the S-bahn.  Not sure that I bought the right ticket though with the bikes.  The public transport relies totally on honesty.
Checked out the Brandenberg Gates.  Loads of people about with the peak of the tourist season. Then the Holocaust sculpture – very stark and moving.

Then to checkpoint Charlie.  It was hard to remember it from the wall days.  Visited a museum at Checkpoint Charlie with lots of information about the Cold War.

Caught the train back to Kopernick and found a lovely Italian restaurant for dinner.  The ride back to camp was via torchlight, but beautiful smooth bike track so no issue.
