Budapest to Sarkad

Thursday September 1
Budapest to Sarkad.  27km.  Total 2206km

Today was a fairly frustrating day.
We were up early and at the train station by 8.30 to catch a 9.10 train that we thought we'd booked to Bekescsaba near the border with Romania.  Turned out that the train couldn't take bikes, so we had to wait til the 10.10 train.
Budapest Keleti station

Arrived in Bekescsaba around 12.30.  It turned out to be a large town in regional Hungary.  Very flat land between here and Budapest, with quite a lot of water about.
Dermot realised that the valve on his bike was leaking, so we had to find a bike shop.  Not many people here spoke much English, but 3 shops later we finally found one that could help.
Took a couple of hours, then we needed some lunch, so didn't get riding until about 3.30.

We were pleasantly surprised to have a bike path for the 1st 17km.  Then it was a fairly busy road with no verge, but generally the drivers were good.

Arrived in Sarkad about 5 and went past an accommodation place, so decided to stop.
