Sunday Sept 4.
Padis to Ic Pondor. 21km Total 2363km.
We spent the morning exploring the area. Went for a walk to the "Ice Cave".
| Look hard for Dermot among the forest |
| A big mound of dirt in the middle. Access into the cave isn't allowed. |
It was freezing cold at the entrance. Can't go further than here.
| Info about the cave and how the ice stays there |
Then headed to a viewing point looking down on 200m high cliffs to the valley below.
Back at camp had some great pancakes for lunch before heading off about 2pm.
| This time, sheep being herded through the camp |
| Riding back up the hill from the campsite, Heading towards Padis |
Padis is an area rather than a town. Very popular for hiking, horse riding, mtn biking, skiing. We rode straight through and reached the pass at about 1300m, where the road turned to gravel. Very rough, slow descent and we weren't totally sure we were on the right route at times. Eventually got back to asphalt at Ic Condor and found a place for the night.
| Not the most luxurious place but was adequate. The stairs were dodgy! |
| In a beautiful location at about 1,000m |
