42km Total 2344km
Wow, what an amazing day. We left the pension and found a tourist information centre where she gave us a map of Padis and recommended the way.
The first 30km was easy. We took back roads to stay off the main road, occasionally on gravel, but mostly good. Had lunch in Petroasa, then gentle climbing to Boga before the real climb took off. 12km to the top, and at times we were only travelling at 4kph! And it was hot.
Then our saviours turned up. 3 guys out for the day downhill Mtbing. They'd already passed us once, but decided on the 2nd time to stop and see if we wanted a lift. We still had about 4km to the top and 9km to Padis. It didn't take much convincing!
They were heading to a camping area - Glavor, for a feed between runs, so we decided to stay with them. The guy on the left owned a bike shop in Ordea, the middle guy is a snow board/surfing bum, and the 3rd guy is a civil engineer. Great company.
It turned out to be such a lovely place that we ended up camping there for the night. Lots of other people camping there. I think mainly Romanians, plenty of families. It's a base for hiking but is also a great place to just sit and relax.
