Varna to Obzor 85km Total 3342km
Today we decided to go inland to avoid heavy traffic along the main E87 along the coast.
Getting out of Varna was a bit crazy, with no option but the main road. We managed along pedestrian paths for the first couple of km, but then we had a huge bridge to cross - about 1.5km long. We tried along the walking path, but there was a pole about every 10m so we couldn't ride. Realised it was going to take way too long to walk so the only option was to mix it with the traffic. Again, they seemed to behave pretty well. The adrenaline levels do rise though!
We spent the day on quiet rural roads with barely a person in site. Couldn't even find a place to stop for food and coffee. Fortunately we were carrying some food. I finally managed to sit on one of the horse and carts with these lovely old men. The one holding the horse was chatting away to us constantly, even though we couldn't understand a word of what he was saying. Check out the wheels!
Arrived in Obzor and found a reasonable hotel. About 65AUD for the 2 of us including all meals and drinks! We'll have to pass up on lunch though.
Not a bad view from our room either.
And this was the sunrise next day.
Just heard the very sad news of Martin Schilg. 10 days from diagnosis to death. Unbelievable. He was such a caring thoughtful man who will be missed by so many. RIP
